Brazilian carnival

The most famous Brazilian carnival held in Rio de Janeiro since 1928. Grand opening celebration always takes place on Saturday, seven weeks before Easter. According to tradition, at seven o’clock the mayor of Rio de Janeiro for four days passes the reins to the King of the carnival. In these days of carnival held in all major and small cities of Brazil. The biggest and most spectacular carnivals, except Rio de Janeiro, held in Brazilian cities of são Paulo, Resinify, Salvador, Fortaleza.

Brazilian carnival is a vivid feast for the audience, striking endless energy, imagination, entertainment and dancing skills of the participants. Actually, the four days of the carnival – the tense competition of the best of Brazilian Samba schools, and the number of members of the carnival procession in each school ranges from 2 to 5 thousand people.

At the carnival, each Samba school presents its “scene”, pre-prepared story dedicated to Brazil and beyond. The procession of one school may take up to one and a half hours. And while admiring audience enthusiastically watch, special jury carnival assesses the performance of each Samba school on several parameters: the music, the performance of Samba, the overall harmony of performance, quality performances by masters of ceremony and flag, the imagination, the relevance of the theme, the allegory, the Central group of the procession, some parts of the procession, carnival floats, etc.

The Samba schools are divided into groups. Premier League (Samba school in the top division – Grupo Especial) is the Samba schools participating in the conquest of the title of the Champion Carnival. The Samba schools in the second tier (Grupo de Acesso) compete with each other. School, won first place in the second tier goes to the last place in the Premier League next year to contend for the title of Champion of the Carnival. In the same way, the Samba school, which has taken in the Premier League last place is eliminated from the second tier.

It should be noted that now the Brazilian carnival in Rio de Janeiro has evolved from a purely religious holiday in the most powerful tool to attract tourists. Tickets for carnival of the reach of most Brazilians, so they tend to get on sight all possible ways (many not for enjoying the holiday, and to plunder the hapless tourist or compatriot). For a more relaxing visit to the Brazilian carnival, for example, in Rio de Janeiro, it is necessary to buy tickets in a special VIP boxes, each of which is worth an average of $ 1,500. For the money you get: drinks, food, carnival set (shirt, bag, napkin), personal protection, storage space, separate toilet, TV with DVD, private transfer to the venue and back, and, in some cases, SPA, massage, etc. Still have more “budget” option – space to open the boxes the sambadrome (from 40-50 dollars per person). But they usually are sold in 12 pieces (whole bed). Therefore, to buy these places need to have a massive “society”, which is unlikely to have an ordinary tourist in Brazil. Usual place of Sapucai sambadrome in Rio de Janeiro are characterized by: the lack of good visibility, lack of Parking and the normal (safe) toilet, the danger of being robbed, etc.

Therefore, if you do not find the money for good tickets, it is better to look at Brazilian carnival on TV or to go to a small town. Sincere joy and kindness of the local people to do the insufficient brightness of the costumes of the local carnival, and Samba dancing in small towns is not worse than in Rio de Janeiro.
